Now this is just sad...

Red SAWX Nation - Are YOU a 'member'?
Red Sux fans are now able, thanks to MLB.com and the Boston Red Sux, to officially enroll themselves as 'citizens' of Red SAWX Nation. For only $9.95 these 'citizens' are entitled to:
• 2005 MLB.com Gameday Audio. ( I get audio on the radio - and it's free!)
• 2005 Ticketing Preference for the
coolest seats at Fenway. (The coolest or the coldest? I understand summer is scheduled for Wednesday this year in Boston)
• An exclusive membership
e-newsletter with special offers. (In New YAWK we call that SPAM - and it's free!)
• Special access to members-only
pages on redsox.com. (What would a 'members-only' page look like? Just a picture of a room full of dudes with their Twig and Berries hanging out? No thanks)
• Red Sox Nation Citizenship Card. (How drunk would a woman have to be in order to be impressed by this? 'Let me pay for this sweetie. I'll just grab my AMEX..Oooops! That's not my AMEX, that's my RED SOX NATION MEMBERSHIP CARD! You likey, yes???')
• Special members-only redsox.com
shop offers throughout the season. (I don't even want to imagine what a 'members-only' shop looks like. Would they sell members-only jackets there? That might be nice.)
Now I'm all for making fun of the 'Nation', but it just seems like the SAWX front office and MLB.com are taking advantage of a bunch of rabid fools who don't know any better. They are also offering a 'Kid Nation'. Membership here costs $20! I mean, what chance do these kids have? Christ, it makes me want to start a telethon or something...

Careful BigBri, you're championship envy is showing.
This is hilarious! If you hadn't provided the links I would have assumed you were making this up.
Go Yanks!
"Red Sox Nation Citizenship Card. (How drunk would a woman have to be in order to be impressed by this? 'Let me pay for this sweetie. I'll just grab my AMEX..Oooops! That's not my AMEX, that's my RED SOX NATION MEMBERSHIP CARD! You likey, yes???'"
hahaha! that writing deserves a pulitzer!
anon,
championship envy???
how can a fan of a team with 26 World Series Championships (the most of any sports franchise in the history of the galaxy) be envious of anyone...let alone a team with only 6, and 1 in the last 86 years??
The world champion sox are not alone on this one.
Brilliant, BigBri! Simply brilliant. If you ever DO have a telethon, I'll donate some cash to help save those poor kids.
"The world champion sox are not alone on this one." - Cutter
Excellent rebuttal. But I have to concur with Bri's overall statement... a "Red Sox Nation Club" or any other "club" for any team is fucking sad.
This story came out months and months ago back in Boston and truth be told... almost all Bostonians are sickened by the attempt to profit off of being a lifelong fan.
I can only assume this whole pile of dogshit was intended to hook in the bandwagon fuckers and squeeze out any cent they can from them. I'm a Bostonian... a Red Sox fan... a real member of the "Nation" and I don't need anything special to prove it... paid for or not. So they can take that card and shove it up thier ass.
dj/tyw! - Thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed the post.
Anon - you are kidding, right?
Evershrinkingreadership -
If you can't see the difference between joining a fan club and signing up for a National Identity Card in a pretend 'Nation', you are beyond help.
Readership levels remain the same. Postings are down because your leader, Attorney James Bursand, ordered you hammerheads to stop posting here. Speaking of which, he would like to see you in his office...
"Readership levels remain the same"
Translate: DJ, theyankeeswin and cutter. Wow.
pavano - I read this blog every day. I love it and so do all the Yankee fans in my office. We don't post - we are 'lurkers'. So what? I see you drop by and constantly harrass the folks here because of low 'readership' levels, but actually it's low 'commentship' levels you are talking about. Or maybe you are too dumb to know the difference.
They're baaaaaack! I knew they couldn't stay away. LOL
hey "lurker" -
it's too bad your office wasn't in the WTC...
"it's too bad your office wasn't in the WTC".
Anon
I am a sox fan and I have to tell you, that was a very shitty comment! All rivalry aside..TWTC is off limits. Don't be an asshole and come out here and show how fucking stupid you are, your a discrace for making a comment like that. I hope this board knows that this comment is not representative of red sox nation....It's assholes like that that gives sox fans a bad name....
"[Upon replacing Mattingly] Martinez was booed at the beginning of his Yankees career before being lionized for six seasons. Giambi received early grief, largely because he was replacing Martinez, then he was treated royally. Now Giambi is booed even if his likeness appears on the scoreboard."
Jack Curry NYT 5/12/05
Gotta love those knowledgeable, level-headed, open-minded Yankees fans. They're MUCH different from Sox fans.
And you, pally, remain a fucktard.
'Fucktard' - The things you don't know could fill a book. Martinez was booed because he was replaing Mattingly. It was one way in which fans were showing their disapointment for the retirement of Donny Baseball. Once he proved himself to be a TRUE Yankee he was, and still is loved. Any Yankee fan anywhere has the right to boo Giambi. He's been a complete bust.
SAWX fans on the other hand turn on their most beloved heroes at the drop of a hat. Yaz was booed. Rice was booed. You cut Clemmens loose and then hated him for having the nerve to continue to succeed as a pitcher. Likewise with Boggs.
I don't expect you to understand this, but it's the truth.
I made the WTC comment yesterday and I regret it. vicious mood I guess - sorry.
"pavano - I read this blog every day...Or maybe you are too dumb to know the difference"
Here's a clue: this blog gets updated about twice a week. So if you read every day, does it ever sound familiar? But I'm dumb...
fans were showing their disapointment for the retirement of Donny Baseball
By booing his replacement?! Like I said, class and open-mindedness personified...
I don't expect you to understand this, but it's the truth.
The classic out from someone who is a) too stupid to articulate their point or b) clinging to an argument full of holes.
Pull that asshat down a little tighter, Mr. F-Tard.
WTF??? I thought these morons had left us?
Fucktard - give it up. Yankee fans believe sox fans are classless, drunken fools. You are never going to change our minds. BigBri gave you specific examples of why you are thought of this way:
1. you booed yaz
2. you booed rice
3. you turned on boggs after he left
4. you turned on clemens after he left
Is your tiny mind being confused by the facts?
dj - my apologies. I broke my own rule and fed the animals. Now they are coming around looking for more attention.
don't blame yourself, bigbri.
and as far as classless booing and an organization turning on their own, you need not look any further than the Nomar situation.
It goes as follows:
sox: hey, arod may come to Bawston!! Wicked! We can give'um Nomar, or Manny!
[deal breaks down]
sox: stupid arod. that dumb bastard should go to the yankees. he sux. oh...hey nomar. heh. no hawd feelin's right?
[5-6 months later]
sox: nomar, you suck. just because we were willing to sell you out at the drop of a hat doesnt mean you shouldnt still play hard for us....get the hell out of here!
[sox trade heart and soul of team, nomar, in order to win series]
sox: yeah! World Series Champs!! woohoo!!!!
....nomar who??
Yankee fans:
Booed Giambi
Booed Kevin Brown
Booed Rivera
Booed A-Rod
...all in the first month of the season. Stupid facts...
Here come the lame excuses and the "I don't expect you to understand"
Can't you just root for your team? Or is that only an option when they're WS champs?
Anon,
Nice post.
Those are all excellent examples of what sorry asshats Yankees fans are. Too bad none of them will help The Three Circlejerkers (BB, DJ, Cutter) realize what hypocritical sacks of shit they are. They're just too damn stupid for that...
lets tackle these in order:
anon,
1) booing is one thing. to sell out the heart and soul of your team is quite another. if you can't see the difference between the two and realize how much worse the latter is, your hopeless.
2) "Can't you just root for your team?"
funny, because that what yankee fans have been doing while red sox fans have not been for decades.
go to any clothing store in boston and find the "Yankees Suck" t-shirts mass marketed. I lived there for one awful year and there wasn't a weekend that when by when i didn't see that phrase ironed on to some crappy shirt or sweatshirt. not ot mention the "sucks/swallows" classy bit of fan expression...
so don't come crying about yankee fans giving the sox the business.
bibbiatch wrote-
"what sorry asshats Yankees fans are. Too bad none of them will help The Three Circlejerkers (BB, DJ, Cutter) realize what hypocritical sacks of shit they are. They're just too damn stupid for that..."
at what point in that elegant post did you make any kind of intelligent incite into ANYTHING?
its classless morons like this guy who go around whering those 'jeter sucks/Arod swallows' shirts.
talk about being too stupid.....
Cutter,
You are contradicting your buddy DJ. He claims booing is bad, you say it is OK. Tough for me to argue against two opposite viewpoints.
Are you saying there are no t-shirts being sold in NY that put down the Sox?
And what would you say if the Yankees traded Jeter or Williams?
wow. i can easily dispense with each argument you made.
1) "You are contradicting your buddy DJ. He claims booing is bad, you say it is OK."
I never said its ok. If you read properly what I was referring to was the degree of culpability. If you point the finger at yankee fans for booing (which is really not anything new) to make some point that we are not good fans for treating are players bad then you are being hypocritical. Booing is nothing compared to selling out your most prized homegrown talent. That is the ultimate sign of a shallow team.
Boos from yankee fans have become the equivalent of "hey, get your ass in gear. you can play better than that." not, "hey you suck and we're going to sell you out."
2)"Are you saying there are no t-shirts being sold in NY that put down the Sox?"
i love this argument. its one only a sox fan can make. its like saying that Bill Gates and I are the same because while he owns microsoft, I've built a few computers for some people too.
if you HONESTLY BELEIVE that the level of collective animosity of yankee fans towards the sox is equal to that of the sox fans towards the yankees, you are dillusional. you can point to all the blogs like this one you want. there are about 5 'yankeessuck.com' sites for every one of these sites. and yes, if you went all day in new york looking for a piece of clothing with a derogatory remark made about the sox, you may find it. MAYBE. But in Boston its sold on nearly every corner. in every mall in the state. you know this as well as i. hating the yankees is a way of life up there. there is no mass equivalent here in new york.
the fact remains that we don't give a crap about the sox when we're not playing them. but sox fans are consumed by the yankees for keeping them down for 86 years. and again, don't point to this site because this site mainly focuses in on those fans, not the red sox team.
3)"And what would you say if the Yankees traded Jeter or Williams?"
well you slipped up. because #1- even in dealing for Arod, the yankees sure as hell weren't going to let jeter go, unlike boston who were ready to forget nomar even existed to get their hands on arod. IN FACT, the yankees werent even going to move Jeter out of the SS position. There is no greater example of a teams devotion to their own player than that. And Jeter is the heart and soul of this team, no doubt.
and when did we trade williams? in fact we resigned him for plenty of money that most people would say was foolish.
no, if you are trying to compare what the sox did with nomar to some hypothetical thing the yankees could do then you are way off. the arod/jeter example PROVES how wrong an assumption that is.....
Cutter????? You are back posting??..hummmm the Yankees must be winning? You have not been around for awhile, you fair weather fuck!
as simple as that explanation must be to a simple-minded fool like yourself, you may have noticed that its also May, traditionally a time where school semester's end. For the last two and a half weeks I have been cramming for law school finals unable to do much of anything else.
but "fair-weathered fuck"? now that sounds about as average a phrase as one can expect from a red sox fan these days. quite elegant and classy as always. well done.
Cutter,
I really thought you were going to make some valid points until I read this;
Boos from yankee fans have become the equivalent of "hey, get your ass in gear. you can play better than that." not, "hey you suck and we're going to sell you out."
I never knew Yankee fans were also experts in dialect to be able to distinguish what a "boo" means. That is, in a word, ridiculous.
"Booing is nothing compared to selling out your most prized homegrown talent"
The Red Sox offered him 4 years, 60 million. He didn't take it. Should owners just keep upping the price tag? Like George does.
And law school? Please. "for treating are players bad" Nice grammar.
"if you went all day in new york looking for a piece of clothing with a derogatory remark made about the sox, you may find it. MAYBE"
Can't you at least be realistic? There is this thing called a rivalry...I know you and DJ are above caring about the Red Sox, but don't put words in the mouths of real Yankee fans. They love the rivalry as much as Sox fans.
"well you slipped up"
What does that even mean? Because I asked you to answer a question on how you'd feel if the Yankees traded one of their home grown stars? Are you naive enough to think this couldn't happen?
The bottom line is that the three people on this site contradict each other and themselves by changing the arguement when a valid point is made that they don't agree with. And yes, some Red Sox fans do the same thing. The difference is that when your team doesn't win every year, instead of supporting them, you decide to start this "mighty river" of bashing not the Red Sox, but their fans? Childish.
Law school? "traditionally a time where school semester's end" Don't you need a modicum of knowledge of the english language for that?
I gave this place a chance, thinking there might be some reasonably intelligent Sox-Yankees baseball talk, but you've proven me wrong again. Continue giggling with your friends here. There are actually sites out there where real Yankee fans can discuss the game and even the rivalry at an adult level, even admitting ::gasp:: that everything pinstriped isn't 100% correct 100% of the time.
Keep it up, though. There's a chance that there are a lot of "hanger-onner" Yankee fans that love this type of stuff. Especially the writing in "Boston accent"...fresh.
"The bottom line is that the three people on this site contradict each other and themselves by changing the arguement when a valid point is made that they don't agree with."
funny, because i countered all of your arguments yet YOU ignored it.
Its quite easy to claim we contradict each other when you dont have to put forth any facts to prove it.
keep trying bub.
"Can't you at least be realistic? There is this thing called a rivalry...I know you and DJ are above caring about the Red Sox, but don't put words in the mouths of real Yankee fans. They love the rivalry as much as Sox fans."
what does THAT mean? yes, there is a rivalry. but your point doesnt detract from my argument that you won't find THAT LEVEL of animosity directed toward the Sox that you find in Boston directed at the yankees.
AS I SAID (yet you ignored in your response and so I guess you conceded the point) HATING THE YANKEES IS A WAY OF LIFE IN BOSTON. There is no equivalent in New York. Yes, we love the rivalry. But AS I SAID, when we aren't playing the sox, we don't care about them.
there are no "Red Sox Suck" chants at Jets or Giants games. I lived in Boston enough to know how it is. And you know it as well.
you seem to enjoy pointing out grammar mistakes in my writing (to what end I am not sure) and yet you fail to acknowledge that your responses lack substance and you fail to put forth any counterarguments.
I would recommend reading more carefully...
oh and.....
"well you slipped up"
What does that even mean? Because I asked you to answer a question on how you'd feel if the Yankees traded one of their home grown stars? Are you naive enough to think this couldn't happen?
i didnt expect you to understand everything given your limited ability to read and comprehend so ill try to explain.
you SLIPPED UP because by trying to counter my point that the Sox treated their heart and soul, nomar, like crap when they had a chance to get Arod, you said something about how I feel if the yankees traded jeter or williams....
well, dingus, the point i made is that the YANKEES WERE PRESENTED WITH THE SAME OPPORTUNITY TO SELL OUT THEIR HEART AND SOUL BY ATTEMPTING TO TRADE FOR AROD.
Did they?
NO THEY DIDNT. They wouldnt offer Jeter up for anyone, even an MVP.
So your attempt to counter my argument failed. The Yankees proved their loyalty when faced with the same situation the Sox were in.
case closed.

one more thing:
"And law school? Please. "for treating are players bad" Nice grammar."
haha. i love that one. i am in LAW SCHOOL, not in GRADUATE SCHOOL SEEKING a Masters in English Lit.
i may slip up when writing on a blog. but at least i can form coherent arguments.
Fact presented: Both sets of fans boo their players.
Cutter's Law School fueled answer: Yankee fan boos are a way of motivating their team. Red Sox fan boos mean they think their players suck.
Fact presented: The Red Sox did not sell out Nomar, they simply refused to overpay him. They offered 4 years at 60 million.
Cutter: Ignored this. Selling out just sounded so NY tough-guy.
Fact: Steinbrenner does overpay.
Cutter: Ignored. He may even recognize the truth sometimes.
Fact: It is ALWAYS possible that a team could trade a player.
Mr. Lawyer (or should I spell it loyer): Because George spent 45 million per year to keep two SS, that means it is impossible that they would ever trade one of their homegrown players.
Sorry Cutter, it looks like you selectively ignored a few of my points. I guess that's what lawyers do. You don't need an advanced degree in English to know the difference between "are" and "our" or when to use an apostrophe.
Maybe you didn't stop commenting here bacause the Yankees were losing, more likely mommy wouldn't let you use her computer because of your bad middle school English grades on your latest report card.
In conclusion (what you soon-to-be-imaginary-lawyers would call a closing arguement) don't forget the Yankees let Tino (heart and soul of the team along with Brossius and O'Neill) walk. Doesn't that fit your 7th-grade definition of selling out?
WOW! I leave for a couple of days and this place blows up like the Godfather!
Nice work Cutter!
Ex-Reader - Sorry this blog isn't what you expected. Don't let the screen door bump you in the ass on your way out.
Hugs,
BigBri
"In conclusion (what you soon-to-be-imaginary-lawyers would call a closing arguement) don't forget the Yankees let Tino (heart and soul of the team along with Brossius and O'Neill) walk. Doesn't that fit your 7th-grade definition of selling out?"
first off, while tino was a huge part of that dynasty, he wasnt homegrown talent and NOT the heart and soul of this team. I wouldnt put the sox down for not signing varitek this year if it had gone that way. he wasnt notifiably the heart and soul of the team. everyone in boston knows nomar was for nearly 10 years.
second, we didn't resign O'Neill becasue HE WAS RETIRING!!! At least get YOUR facts straight. And as for treating O'Neill well, I suggest you take a look at the end of Game 5 of the 2001 WS. i think the NY fans displayed to the full extent how they are the greatest in the world to play for.
Jeter, like nomar, was the heart and soul because he came up with the organization....
as for "ignoring facts", when you put so much spin on your answers like that, of course any answer i give will look like i missed something.
keep attacking me personally too. thats a sure sign your arguments lack substance and you can't stick to the subject.
by the way, genius, its spelled 'argument', not 'arguement'.
and im the one that has grammar problems.....yeesh
Attorney Cutter, you misread and/or ignored all of my points. And, not that I would expect you to, you know nothing about the Red Sox other than what BigBri and DJ tell you. When someone comes out and says they can translate boos into emotion or opinion (not to mention the whole law school BS) they deserve to be called out. Now why don't you, Rocket Scientist DJ and Doctor BigBri get back to work. Those trash cans won't empty themselves! Welcome back BigBri, mommy let you back on the computer, huh?

Uh, it's "insight" Johnny J.D. And the "i-n-s-i-g-h-t-s" (plural form) were:
1. you are a hypocritical windbag who erects straw men, knocks them over, and then declares himself a master logician.
2. DJ is an easily impressed lap dog (he is also BigBri posting under another name)
3. BigBra is an idiot who continues to delude himself that Yankees fans don't behave just as poorly as anyone else.
Need any more help with insights? (Aside from spelling it, of course?) Just let me know...
And I gave this place until the all-star break before it would be a desolate ghost town.
